April has been working with glass for the past eight years. She initially became interested in glass whilst studying Three Dimensional Design at Manchester Metropolitan University; where she learnt how to blow glass. Although she did not continue with glass blowing it sparked her enthusiasm for the material.
It was after a move to Bristol she began working at The Creative Glass Guild and undertook courses in stained glass, painting and fused glass. She created her first stained glass work in 2017 and has continued making ever since. In Bristol April also studied horticulture and often uses this subject as inspiration in her work, alongside her interests in folklore and indigenous cultures. With this enthusiasm for glass April continued her study taking on a part time position as a Glass Conservator at Holywell Glass in Wells. It was there she honed her glass skills even more and developed an understanding of the restoration and conservation of stained glass.
The time came where April began looking for a studio outside of the city; somewhere with greener grass and a touch of magic with which to inspire her even more. In 2022 April moved her workshop to Rock Farm in Shepton Mallet, Somerset. Taking on a studio space with craftsman Josh White, who often collaborates with April making the metal bases of her sculptures and wooden frames for her panels. In their workshop April can be found making stained glass panels for private residencies and designing new artworks for exhibitions.
You can now find her work at the A2 Gallery in Wells and online at Boha Glass. April also teaches glass techniques in various spaces across the South West including the Bristol Folk House and in her own studio.
