Glass Sculpture
'The Sirin'
Stained glass sculpture, painted with vitreous paints, silver stains and incased within a steel frame.
The 'Sirin' is inspired by the 'bird woman' depicted in Russian folklore. With the body of a song thrush and the head of a beautiful woman this mythical figure is said to bring joy and eternal happiness as she sings. In this adaptation the Sirin is singing into the sky, her beautiful voice reaching the highest of notes, much like the song thrush.
