Stained Glass
'In Our Hands'
Stained glass panel, painted with vitreous paints & silver stains.
This stained glass artwork pays homage to the late Trena Cox, a Stained Glass Artist based in Chester who's work was prominent in the mid 1900's. This piece was made for an exhibition at Chester Cathedral and was on display there in 2024.
Cox often included sweet creatures in the backdrops of her figurative subjects, a theme I’ve embraced in this piece titled "In Our Hands." It envisions Trena in the animistic kingdom she hinted at, surrounded by creatures and nature from her stained glass windows, with my own style added. Imagining Trena at a similar age to myself, the piece symbolises our responsibility to care for the planet—its future truly lies in our hands.
This piece comes with a custom made oak light box with a controller that dims and can be mounted onto a wall near a plug socket. It can also be removed from the frame should that be required and installed into a gap within a window frame.
